Scott and I have just returned from a trip to Savannah, Ga & Hilton Head Island, SC - but that's another post.
While we were gone, a tree fell on our house - but that's another post.
When we returned, Scott cut the cable/internet/phone lines with a trencher - but that's another post.
Today, I will post the last page of the "Me Book" that I wrote in the 2nd grade. It's titled .... If I Were An Eskimo.
The word you can't read is "would".
My poor husky....it looks more like a 4-legged duck. And why are my arms wide open? Maybe because my shirt isn't on?
Also, can somebody please tell me what a sledge is? In a strange way, I kind of think my face actually looks like the face on this picture.
I would so love to know what some of my classmates wrote in their books.

Me Book - Chapter 6

Meet Teddy. Santa Claus introduced the two of us when Teddy was bigger than I was. We've been through a lot together. I can honestly say that Little Julie was telling the truth... When I got scared I did "snug" up with Teddy. Every night, for almost 20 years, I fell asleep with my arms wrapped around Teddy in a big "bear" hug. Whenever there was a thunderstorm at night, I would hide my face under Teddy while the lightning flashed across my bed. I was so used to falling asleep with my arms around Teddy that when I got married....I still needed a stuffed animal to sleep with. I downsized and slept with Snoopy. I did that for about two years until Scott finally said, "Do we really have to have Snoopy in the bed with us?"
I'll never forget the time that my Aunt Faye asked me to introduce her to my bear. I told her his name was Ted. I was so mad at myself for not saying Teddy. I apologized to Teddy. I have NO IDEA why I remember that so clearly. :-)
Sadly, Teddy now lives in a closet with a container full of my other stuffed friends. I had Scott take some pictures of me and Teddy today. He rolled his eyes the whole time but....
PS. Those are my new glasses that I promised I would show you a while back.

Those of you who know me well will find this one pretty funny.
Yes, it does say, "When the people were well we would keep them until they were well real good." It might not be the best grammar but I knew what I was trying to say.
Poor "Little Julie"....little did she know that in about another year she would discover that she is phobic about germs. If I could get away with it, I'd spend the cold weather months either living in a bubble or wearing a mask and gloves in public. (Cue the national anthem) I take great pride in my ability to open doors without touching knobs in public places. I can single-handedly keep the hand wipe companies in business. If there were more people like me...there would be a lot less flu and colds spread in the winter. (And....there would be a greater need for psychologists too....)
Just being in the doctor's office around all of those germs causes me great stress. I would have made a terrible nurse! But...it sounds better than, "When I grow up, I'm going to be an Administrative Assistant." ....however, I dolove really like my job!

Assuming that I am the blonde stick girl, I wonder who the taller blue headed stick person is. Deanna, do you recall ever having blue hair in the 2nd grade?
This page came out a little light so I will tell you what it says:
"It feels nice when my friends play with me. I am nice to my friends when they play with me."
I was no dumb cookie.
For good reason, I was apparently afraid that my teacher wouldn't understand the illustration below so I spelled it out for her.
Wow. It seems like Little Julie was a deep thinker..."I am afraid of nothing. Once I was afraid of nothing." That makes about as much sense as some of the poetry we read in school.
Surprisingly, there are more pages to come....

I am taking a day off from the "Me Book" because today is a very special day! Today is my grandmother H's birthday! If she were still alive today...she would be turning 113! :-) Grandma H, or "grammaw" as I always call her, is very important to me for many reasons. One of those reasons is because I grew up next door to her and she was a daily part of my life. Another is that she was the only one of Julie's grandparents that was still alive when she was born...
Watching game shows and soap operas with Grandma was always interesting. She could tell you all about As the World Turns and Guiding Light. She also LOVED watching PTL, however, she was not a fan of Tammy Faye's makeup nor her tears.
Every year, Grandma had a big garden. I always enjoyed playing outside while she worked in her garden.
Grandma H had 9 kids. Clegg, Henry, Jean, Faye, Coy, L.E., Johnny (dad), Sara & Zell. I miss hearing her tell stories of life on the farm. She was very proud of the fact that she taught Sunday School and played the piano at her church for many years. I'd give anything to hear her play the piano again. Here we are posing in the flowers....she LOVED to work in her flowers.
We also spent a lot of time sitting outside under the trees. Check out grandma's car...
Yes, that's Yours Truly cheesing in the middle. When Grandma was in her 80's, she even had a boyfriend! Here she is with the Rev. B.E. Morris. Dr. Morris proposed to her but as Grandma always reminded me..."he wanted a nurse; not a wife". Grandma was a smart lady!
Every once in a while I would have a sleepover with Grandma. We would lay in bed and she would tell me stories of her school days in a one room schoolhouse until we fell asleep. She also had a mischievous side....every once in a while she would tell me things that I couldn't repeat to mom & dad. According to Grandma, "Teenagers today don't know how to have fun. They don't have square dances." Here she is on her 80th birthday...
I miss you grandma! I know you're square dancing in heaven. Well, you were finally right, that WAS your last birthday and your last Christmas.
Grandma told me several times that while she loved me very much, she loved my brother Kevin more because she had known him longer. I have only one thing to say to that. Poor Jason, you're the only grandchild younger than me. I guess that means grandma loved me more than she loved you.
Due to popular request (1 person), I will continue with readings from the "Me Book" next time...
