I Told You So

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

I told you I would try to update my blog more often!

After taking Greta to the vet on Friday, Scott & I visited with our good friends, Michael & Jill, who were in town from Ohio.  We had a wonderful night spending time with family & friends and playing with Michael & Jill's dogs:  Steely Dan, Bailey, & Saraya.  I'd love to show you some pictures but I didn't have my camera.  Just imagine a picture of Scott playing with the dogs.  Oh, there's a picture of me talking to Jill.  Notice how pretty she looks.  Wow, look how fit I am from my 2 weeks at the Y.

Saturday, we had our annual Fall Family Festival at church.  I worked in the prize booth.  The weather was beautiful and frankly, a little hot.  Here are some pictures of my niece & nephew playing at the Festival...

Here's Daniel with Papaw:
I have more to post about the festival but I promised myself that I have to clean something tonight...anything.  I will post more from the festival next time.  In the meantime, here is a picture of Laura pushing Daniel in the stroller while a tiny bride runs over.
The beautiful (and way too young to get married) bride is Deanna's daughter, Jenna.  Isn't she cute?

Greta's Big Day

Sunday, October 24, 2010

You may recall that several weeks ago Greta had her annual veterinary check up.  After receiving some confusing phone messages regarding her blood & urine tests, I decided to take her to a "cat hospital" for a second opinion.  The 4 Seasons Cat Hospital specializes in cats only.  It was a wonderful change from our previous animal hospital which is usually chaotic and where doctor turnover was getting a little ridiculous.  When you arrive to the 4 Seasons, you are greeted by 4 GIGANTIC Maine Coon kitties.  Maine Coons are the largest (domestic) cat breed on the planet.  The cats were stunningly beautiful and very friendly.  I even had one curl up in my lap while I was trying to fill out the paperwork.

The veterinarian, Dr. Nan Moses, spent 45 minutes in the exam room with us.  She went line by line with Greta's blood & urine test results and explained each result to me.  Turns out, Greta is doing just fine.

Here's a picture of our little patient a/k/a "Fraidy Cat":

After the technician put Greta on the scale to get her weight, she decided that it was a safe place to stay for the rest of her visit.

I made a promise to my friend Michael to do a better job at keeping my blog updated.  I had a wonderful weekend full of activities that I promise to update you on during this week.  But, in the meantime...here are more pictures of Greta.

The giant lump to the right of Greta is actually Scott.  He's still sleeping.  Well, he was sleeping, until I started taking pictures.   Just in case you aren't convinced....
When there is good sleeping going on in our house, Greta is always close by.

Potpourri

I just looked up that word and guess what?  I spelled it right!  Spelling is one of the few things that I have always been good at.  I may not be able to do calculus but I sure can spell it.

For anyone who cares...I am LOVING the YMCA.  I started taking yoga last week and plan to start pilates class this week.  I have always enjoyed yoga and pilates but taking it at the Y is MUCH cheaper than taking it at a studio.  Now I can take as many classes as I want during the week.  My goal is to add a kickboxing class in there somewhere.  I watched one of the kickboxing classes through the window....I'm not ready for that yet.  I also enjoyed using the exercise equipment.  Most of the equipment there comes with your own personal tv with cable - just be sure to bring your own headphones.  You know how I feel about germs...and I feel like the Y is a giant germ factory.

Here are a few random pictures of my dad spreading dirt in my yard last weekend:

Dad LOVES tractors!  For a while there, it seemed like he was collecting them.  Mom was not very excited about that.

Well, I have much more to tell you.  The painters are coming tomorrow to paint the rooms that were damaged during the tree fiasco.  Oh, I realized today that part of it must have fallen on my treadmill because there is glass inside of it and it isn't running like it is supposed to.  YES...it took me a month to realize that my treadmill was broken.  (heehee)

And....I need to catch you up on Greta.  Don't tell her but I'm taking her to a cat hospital Friday to get a second opinion.  She seems perfectly normal to me but her yearly blood and urine tests weren't quite normal.  Apparently, she doesn't know that because she seems fine.

Got to go...Scott just pulled a pizza out of the grill AND he is baking a dessert that he saw Paula Deen make on her show yesterday!

It's Fun to Stay at the YMCA!

Saturday, I joined the Y.  Then I immediately went through the McDonald's drive-thru for a vanilla milkshake and some french fries.
I've decided to blog about my journey to fitness.  So far, this is what I have done:

Sleepy

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Julie is very sleepy tonight but promises to post something very exciting this week.  No, I'm not pregnant.  I don't know what the exciting thing will be.  I may have to make something up.

Greta's Bad Day

Sunday, October 3, 2010

Whenever our cat, Greta, visits the animal hospital she spontaneously turns into Greta - The PeePee Cat.  It is a traumatic experience for the both of us.  The minute we load her into her carrier she becomes so afraid that she pees.  So, every time that we visit the vet, the technicians have to hose both her and her carrier down.  I can't say as I blame Greta since the vet has pulled 9 of her teeth out over the years but it sure makes her appointments more difficult than they need to be!  Here are a couple of pictures from her wellness appointment yesterday.  The pictures are a little blurrier than normal due to the effect of the stress on my termor!

Due to the fact that Greta had already "emptied her bladder", the vet sent me home with a tube and a dropper.  She told me to collect some urine and bring it in.  Yay.

Here is a picture of her as of 30 seconds ago:

All is right in Greta's world again.
