My Dad is in Rehab

Monday, April 16, 2018

Not that kind of rehab.  One week ago today, he was released from the hospital to White Oak for balance & conditioning therapy.  Here is a picture of my parents saying goodbye on his first night.

Dad has really been enjoying himself in White Oak.  The facility is beautiful and, as it turns out, he has some childhood friends in there.  They are having the time of their lives catching up.  He really LOVES the food.  I think he is going to miss being there just a little bit.

He is doing really well in therapy although he tells me they are "trying to kill" him.  They have told him to walk on his own withOUT a walker (makes me a little nervous).  They are catering his therapy to helping him play golf when he gets out.  That will be a small miracle in itself.

I am really enjoying my daily visits with dad at White Oak.  He always has a funny story to tell me.  I hope that my mom is resting up because he is scheduled to be released this Thursday.  That will be two weeks to the day of this most recent "adventure''.  I have to admit that it is such a relief having him in such a nice facility and being well taken care of.  I have felt my anxiety level slowly come down.  I just hope it can stay down for a little while.

(I couldn't get Daniel to take his eyes off of the cartoons on TV to look at me. )

  1. White Oak sounds like a great place for rehab. (Never mind rehab...it sounds like a great place for a vacation!) It's nice that your Dad has come across childhood friends there. I'm sure it helps him to feel at home. And all the better if his golf game improves, right?
