It's Still 2020

Monday, June 29, 2020

How are you?  In some ways, every week feels like both a battle and an accomplishment these days.

Blossom made it through another week!  She even went to physical therapy for the first time since March.  The doctor said that she hadn't really lost any muscle mass.  The problem is the communication from her brain to her spinal cord.  Please forgive the photo overload as she is currently the most photographed dog in the world.  Our girl even managed to go up and down the stairs a few times this week; she's a fighter.  She's still able to walk around and at times, she even runs.  It isn't pretty but it is beautiful to me.

I Have a Pet Snake

That's a sentence I never thought I'd say.  Actually, it isn't true.  That being said...meet Gartie, my Garter Snake.

Pandemic Blues

Sunday, June 14, 2020

How are you doing today?  It's Sunday night and I've got a case of the Pandemic Blues.  I enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing weekend with plenty of family time but, reality has hit me that this virus is not going anywhere anytime soon.  Cases in North Carolina continue on an upward trend.  People are struggling.  I long for the days I can spend quality time with people I love and give them a long bear hug.  I'm supposed to be in Vermont right now.  Deanna and I had plane tickets to spend this week  exploring Vermont and Maine.  Thankfully, we have until December 31, 2021 to reschedule our flights without losing any money.  If any of my Vermont friends are reading this....I hope to see you as soon as things are safe.

Blossom is living her best life even though her back legs are so confused.  She is so loved and so spoiled.

June Something

Sunday, June 7, 2020

We made it through the first week of June.  How are you doing?  I'm not 100% sure how I would answer that question.  I feel like I'm an alien in a world that I may or may not have visited before.  The bubble that I live in seems somewhat the same but, everything else seems changed.

I saw this beautiful girl today for the first time in weeks.  She was as happy as always.  Today she said, "No open the door", "Dishwasher", "Ice Cream" and "Cheese".  Same ol' Laura.

A Friday in May

Friday, May 29, 2020

After almost 3 months, Mom has her "natural" hair style back.

Whenever, Wherever

Wednesday, May 27, 2020

According to the calendar, today is May 27, 2020.  Um, if you say so.

Dad spent last weekend in the hospital.  Due to COVID19 restrictions, everything was much harder than it should have been.  I am so thankful for a very special friend who works for the hospital system and was able to keep tabs on my dad after I was forced to abandon him at the Emergency Room door.  I don't want to say her name just in case it would get her in trouble of any sort.  Without going into the ridiculous, I will say that Dad is now home and doing well.  Long story short - kidney infection.  Yes,  I tried telling them that over the phone since they wouldn't speak to me when I brought him.  Oh well, we did find out his heart is "very strong" and "doing very well".

After reviewing the safety policies at Mom's hair salon, I felt comfortable taking her for her first appointment in over 2 months.  Here she is showing off her new perm and cut.  She is most excited for the appointment scheduled for this Friday when she will get her "color" put back in.  I tried to talk her into letting her natural color grow out.  I'm just glad I finally got to see what her natural color is!

Blossom's disease has really started to progress over the last couple of weeks.  She doesn't seem to be in any pain; her back legs just get tangled up and twisted.  It is getting too hard for her to walk up and down the stairs at our house.  Since she insists on being with Scott when he is downstairs, he has started taking her outside and walking her around the house to the basement.

Do you see Balto in this picture?

Poor Balto, he blends in to everything.  This is why he is always getting overlooked.

Tropical Storm Bertha is visiting us right now and we are getting pummeled with rain today.  Yes, a Tropical Storm in May.  Stay tuned....the 17 year cicadas are set to visit in a few weeks.  I just had a flashback to my childhood dogs eating their shells many years ago.
