Since Laura said "Red Robin"....we went to Red Robin.
Last year, we didn't get to go to Laura's birthday party because Dad was in the hospital. She had it at the water park at Great Wolf Lodge. Her best friend from school was there, Ezra.
I didn't take a single picture at Red Robin!!! Kevin took enough for all of us so there is actual documentation that we were there.
Laura rode back from the restaurant to her house with us. She was given a choice and she said, "Julie's car". So, she rode with me.
I tried to get the three of us in the back seat but this was as good as I could do (short arms!)
Laura was so excited all night. She has 2 caretakers, Shakira and Rebecca, who switch off babysitting her during the week and on Saturdays. They are respite workers that the State has started to provide the family through a wonderful organization called InReach. Here's the funny thing... Shakira and Rebecca are 1st cousins and had no idea that they were taking care of the same girl until a few weeks ago. Yesterday, they took her to the birthday party of one of the children in their family. Laura got to go to 2 birthday parties in one day!!! Rebecca said that there were bouncy houses and that Laura kept going behind the bouncy houses and unplugging them. She said the children would scream out as the house deflated and that Laura was laughing. That's Laura for sure; always trying to be funny. I'm not so sure the other children got the joke.
Shakira...
Rebecca...
Proud Aunt and Uncle with Birthday Girl
Daniel was super excited to show Uncle Scott his Red Ryder BB gun - to which of course I had to say, "You'll shoot your eye out". I'm pretty sure Daniel hasn't seen A Christmas Story so that one went right over his head.
This week my Dad has an appointment with the "Electrical" Doctor at his Cardiologist's office. He feels confident that he is going to be told he needs a Pacemaker. He also feels confident that it will solve all of his problems with fatigue and weakness. I don't know if any of that is true but I will be glad to hear what they say. I'm trying to work on letting go of any expectations and trusting that God has a plan. It's hard to trust when you're hardwired for anxiety. I'm working on giving up the imaginary control that I have....
For your amusement....I got my hair dyed and highlighted this week. It is hard work covering up all of my wisdom.
Birthday cake...yum! Laura has good taste when it comes to what she likes. Her outfit is cute. Are those some of the things you bought her? A Christmas Story is on TV every year--make sure Daniel sees it next time. Good luck to your Dad at the "electrical" doctor. I gave up covering my "wisdom" decades ago. Let it go and let your silver fox show.
