Friday Review

Friday, February 15, 2019

My week has been....well, to steal a word from Phoebe Buffay...it has been "floopy".

Balto took my shoe outside and dropped it in the farthest spot in the back yard fence where I rarely go.  Thankfully, I looked out the window and saw him carrying it around or that would have been the end of my shoe.  It was an LL Bean wool slipper and it started pouring rain soon after I retrieved it.

Mom cutting a cantaloupe.  It has taken me longer than it should have to realize that the reason Mom has to roll up her pants now is because she is getting shorter.

Daniel came over on Tuesday so that Kevin and Rana could eat out for Valentine's Day.  Laura was with a her respite worker.   Scott had ordered a lamp so he can do some red light therapy on some  of his injuries.  Daniel was in his element.  (If you've read this blog before, you know that Daniel is obsessed with lights.)

He then made a boat out of some of the packing material.

Wednesday, I made spaghetti for Mom and Dad and took it over to eat with them.  Mom seems to be cooking a lot less these days so I'm trying to make sure that they eat well.  I didn't get any pictures of us eating but, we did have some hungry guests show up at their door to watch.

Those barn cats make my mom so happy.  Yes, she fed both of them.

Thursday morning, I took Dad to a lab at the hospital to have some blood drawn.  He called me while I was getting ready and left a message asking if he was allowed to eat breakfast.  The message said, "Julie, this is Johnny..."  Um, ok Johnny.  That reminds me of the time that I got a birthday card signed by Mom and Dad.  It said, "Happy Birthday.  Love, Mom and Johnny Helms".  He didn't write "Dad", he wrote his full name.

Speaking of Johnny, the sweater he wore today had his name on it.

He told me that Rana bought it for him (my sister-in-law).  I took this picture after we walked in the door from our trip to the hospital. He was feeling a little weak and had to sit down and rest.

Daniel's ripped his pants wide open.  Thankfully, they came with a built in liner.  Here he is showing me what he was doing when they ripped.

Giving Nana a Valentine's Day card.

Daniel was invited to a "Nerf War" on Saturday.  It is actually a martial arts studio trying to get parents/children in the doors to sell classes but, Daniel is super excited.  He didn't have a Nerf gun so I ordered one for him.

I hope everyone had a nice week.  Yesterday was Valentine's Day and Scott cooked chicken and gave me a dozen yellow roses.  Even though I know better, part of me was hoping for a cat.

  1. Good thing you collected your slipper before the rain came! I can relate to getting shorter--I've lost an inch myself. Hope you told "Johnny" that he had to fast from midnight until the blood drawing. That includes no breakfast. So your Mom has a cat bed right at the front door? No wonder they keep coming over. Chicken dinner and a dozen yellow roses sound like a perfect Valentine's gift. Maybe you'll get the cat for your birthday...
