Today is Friday, the 5th of July, and I had to go back to work. Thankfully, our company let us off at 3:00 p.m. again today. It's better than nothing.
I just helped 2 Cardinals chase a Hawk out of the yard. The Hawk was beautiful; however, the Cardinals didn't seem to care.
The Fourth of July is my least favorite holiday due to fireworks; I'm glad it is over.
Mom and I went to visit her sister, Ruby, at her assisted living center. For supper, Dad wanted to cook out hamburgers and hotdogs. He wasn't feeling well enough to do the honors himself therefore, Kevin was our grillmaster. Dad walked outside for a few moments.
We lost a beautiful, young friend due to sad circumstances.
Rana lost a friend in a natural gas explosion.
On the flip side....
I was able to spend time with friends at a very nice cookout.
I finally was able to spend some time with my life-long friend, Teresa.
Daniel ate a cherry tomato from my garden. He said it was DELICIOUS.
After a rough (and late) start, our garden is finally starting to flourish. I hope to have a full report for you soon.
I'm not especially fond of July 4th celebrations, either. In some small towns it signals the beginning of a week of illegal backyard fireworks, so it's not over when it's over. After watching a hawk catch and eat a backyard bird, I'm siding with your two cardinals. Homegrown tomatoes are the best.
