January is such an interesting month. It is a month that usually provokes a lot of reflection for me; renewed hope and restored anxiety. My favorite thing about January is that the sun sets later and later in the day. I am sure that I have a bit of Seasonal Affective Disorder and I am so thankful that it is still daylight after 6:00 p.m. now. Here are some highlights from my January week:
Balto dug a hole.
And watched it for hours.
I'm not sure what he is tracking; maybe a vole?
Balto loves to bring shoes to supper. One night this week, he brought 3.
Scott tried a new recipe (to us) called Chicken Alla Joe. (Yes, that is the proper spelling.) It was really good. Apparently, it is very popular in Chicago. Who knew?
I feel sure Balto is trying to tell me something here...
Our Christmas tree is still up. It is anyone's guess as to when Scott will decide to take it down. One year, it came down on Good Friday...in April. For me, I think Valentine's Day is the perfect time to take it down.
Thursday, I ate dinner with Deanna. Deanna is my "oldest" friend. We met in kindergarten and became inseparable in the first grade. I don't see Deanna very much at all but, when we do get together, it is like seeing family. Deanna is doing well and it shows!
Not my parents' cat was around as always....
Daniel and I dropped Mom off at the hair salon to get a perm on Saturday. On the way home, we went through the car wash.
I love the excitement in his eyes while looking through the sunroof.
He turned my back up camera on ....
Daniel brought his own "personal egg cooking pan" to Nana and Papa's house.
And cooked an egg....
He decided to experiment and add a cut up hot dog to his egg. It was an epic fail. Once he separated everything he liked it again.
While cooking, his shirt got wet and he wanted to take it off. He soon realized he was dressed like Papa.
Rana sent these photos of Laura at a party with her most favorite people in the world...Bekah and Shakiria (Laura calls her Suh-clean-uh). Her current helper is Bolivia. Laura calls her "Lena". No one knows why.
Mom had a check-up with her cardiologist on Friday. Her heart is always in A-Fib but, she received a great report. The doctor had to double her fluid pills though because her legs are starting to swell a lot. She had a lot of trouble getting around this weekend and is very, very uncomfortable. I'm hoping the new dosage will help otherwise, we'll be back at the doctor's office this week. Sigh.
You can see in this picture how swollen her legs and feet are:
Showing her some love...
Celebrate your small achievements this week!
The carwash photos are such fun! How did you get the sunroof photo? Is it a reflection? I see nothing wrong with Daniel's hot dog and egg dish. All it needs is a dash of ketchup to finish it. Has your Mom tried sitting with her legs elevated? That should minimize the edema. I always use a footstool when watching TV. It's easier than trying to put on compression socks.
