Snow Day

Friday, January 19, 2018

It happened on Wednesday.   The weather forecasters finally got it right.

Blossom loved eating the snow.  She kept biting at it.

I would love to know what Balto is thinking.

Because I wear glasses, I made myself a special hat.  I put on a baseball cap to keep the snow off of my glasses and a fleece hat on top of it to keep my head warm.  #foureyedproblems

The sunny pictures were taken before I went to work on Thursday.

My bird feeders saw non-stop action during the storm.  I spent a lot of time just watching the comings and goings at the feeders.  Balto was looking out the window and a Cardinal came and thumped the window right by his face.  I don't know if the Cardinal saw his reflection or if he actually saw Balto.  Either way, Balto was startled.  His tail started wagging rapidly and it took a while for it to calm down.

Since it is North Carolina, the snow is 90% gone already.  Temperatures were much warmer today (50's) and are supposed to be in the 60's by the end of the weekend.

Meanwhile, our Christmas tree is still up...

When I left for work Wednesday, it wasn't snowing.  By the time I got to work, snow was falling fast and hard.  I stayed until about 10:30 and slid my way home.  I enjoyed spending the afternoon playing in the snow with Scott and the dogs and also spending time with Mom, Dad, Kevin, Rana, Laura and Daniel.  My mom taught Daniel how to make Snow Cream.  Yes, we make snow cream in the south.  It was a fun family day.

Well, we have met my snow quota for the year.  Every year I wish for one day of snow so that the kids can play in it and I can get a "snow day" from work.  Bring back the warm weather!!!!

  1. Your snow is very pretty. I'm glad you took photos. So what goes into Snow Cream? Snow and cream? Any flavoring? Is it something to drink or to eat? We do Sugar on Snow here, which is maple syrup drizzled on fresh snow and eaten. Yum!

  2. The way mom always taught me to make snow cream was with a big bowl of fresh snow, vanilla, sugar and milk. We use regular milk and also some cream. It is like a slushy ice cream. I should have guessed that you put maple syrup on your snow in Vermont!
