It's Sunday night; another weekend has come to an end. My weekend started out very busy and ended very quietly. Saturday, I had two parties to attend. Those who know me will already know that is a lot of socializing for an introverted Julie. I love being around my friends; just not all at once! I don't know how much of that is being introverted and how much is having Social Anxiety Disorder. Or how much is just being Julie.
Party #1: Cat's Annual Christmas Ornament Exchange Party
I met Cat's family while serving at Elevation Church several years ago. Suzanne (Cat's mom), Allison (Cat's sister), and Cat all served on the Sunday night hospitality team with me. The Spantgos family are truly the salt of the earth. I have never met a more generous family when it comes to helping those in need.
Allison and Me
You may recall my drive to Cat's party last year....I had to pull off of the interstate. It was starting to snow (in North Carolina!) and I was having a panic attack. I really struggle to drive by myself on the interstate..rain or shine. I called a good friend of mine to talk me through the rest of my drive because I refused to give up. Fast forward to this year....I had another panic attack! Cat's family moved to a different side of Charlotte that I'm not very familiar with. Thank God for GPS because I took a lot of back roads and made it there only 15 minutes late. I guess I just need to start adding some extra time for panicking.
Here's a picture of Cat with Tim Tebow....she was his prom date 2 years ago at the Night to Shine prom. She got to dance the night away with Tim. Yes, that Tim Tebow!
Cat's party is an ornament exchange and a whole lot of fun. I actually "stole" an ornament this year and it is on my tree right now. I always get fussed at for being a "good girl" and never stealing ornaments so this year I stepped out of my comfort zone. That is actually why Suzanne started this tradition; to get Cat and her "special" friends out of their comfort zones. I think they do a better job than I do!
Party #2: Sunday School Christmas Party
A very fun party with some of my church family. I was actually NOT the only party goer wearing a "Go Jesus, It's Your Birthday" t-shirt! LOL!
Today we were sort of rained in. Many in the area had a snow storm so everything was closed. My area just got a lot of rain so, I enjoyed a quiet day at home. Well....and next door visiting the family.
Daniel made a helicopter out of legos...
He also ate some of my left over Oreo dessert from the Sunday school party. Check out the mustache.
Here he is saying "Take the picture!" while he tries to watch cartoons.
My sweet, always smiling, Laura. Friday, the bus driver told Laura's mom that a boy at school has been suspended for being mean to Laura. Rana didn't know anything about this as no one had contacted her. She is going to get to the bottom of it. It breaks my heart that someone could be so cruel to someone so innocent. Middle school is hard enough but children with special needs are statistically far more likely to endure bullying.
Dad wanted in on our photo.
Daniel insisted on putting this "sticker" on our picture.
Rana took Dad to the ear doctor this week. After the appointment, they went out to eat breakfast and she sent pictures to make me hungry.
Mom and I watched a couple of Hallmark movies together this week. Yes, she has a string of lights out on her tree. Daniel is working on it (wink, wink).
Mom had spent the morning at therapy for her leg and also at the grocery store. She may have missed about 15 minutes of the movie to catch some Zzzz's.
If the roads aren't icy tomorrow, I am taking Mom to get the results of her Echo cardiogram. I'm a little nervous about what the Dr will say to us. Wait, you know me, I'm a lot nervous about what the Dr will say to us. I have a phobia of Doctors as it is. Blossom & Balto are going to the Groomer tomorrow and Dad has scheduled himself a dentist appointment. I sure hope that the roads are OK where we are.
PSA: For those of you who don't know...
In the South, we never know when we might need a milk sandwich. (No, there is no such thing as a milk sandwich.) Yes, Scott and I stocked up on milk and bread just in case. I am Southern after all.
I want what your Dad and Rana are having for breakfast. Do you have picture editing software? Try flipping your T-shirt pic so people can read it. I haven't seen an official Northern snow survival chart, but supplies needed here would include a fully stocked refrigerator, freezer and pantry, a fully stocked liquor cabinet, and an array of snow shovels. For 12 or more inches, access to anything with a snowplow attachment is mandatory.
