Slow Sunday

Sunday, July 8, 2018

Breaking News:   I've gone 2 whole days with no stomach contractions.  Maybe it really was some sort of strange bug and I won't be having an alien baby after all.

Yesterday, I went to the baby shower of one of my very best friend's daughter-in-law.  In simple terms, Linda's going to be a Grandmother.  I've known Linda since 2011 when her son was still in high school and we prayed away one of his girlfriends.  He is now a happily married school teacher with a baby boy on the way.

Random photos of my Sunday school class this morning:

Yes, Hannah Leigh has a unicorn head piece on.  I'm glad I didn't wear mine today; that would have been really embarrassing.

I wanted to make sure Charlotte was in the picture.

When I came home from church, I was met with Balto carrying my bra.  He settled down with it on the couch.

After lunch and several episodes of Golden Girls, I sat outside and put my feet in the fountain.  I put my feet in the fountain because, well, that's as close as I'm going to come to getting a swimming pool.  The twins came...

I was kicked back and enjoying my peaceful afternoon when I looked down at my feet and saw this:

To the surprise of most people who know me, I shouted out another "S" word a couple of times before I basically froze.  I couldn't decide whether to call Scott on the phone (he was inside) or just put my shoes on and leave.  I slowly put my shoes on and nervously made my way inside.  Translation: I ran for my life!

The consensus is that this is NOT a poisonous snake.  Either way, I made Scott kill him.  While he was chopping him into small pieces, a lizard ran across his foot.  I'm not sure how he didn't just have a heart attack and die on the spot but, he was brave.  Me, I busted out my bottle of emergency Xanax.

UPDATE:  I'm 99.9999% sure this is a baby "Brown Snake".  The internet says that they live in flower beds and eat earthworms, slugs and snails.  They are NOT poisonous.  I looked at many, many pictures of snakes trying to identify my visitor and now I am scared to go to sleep.  I feel fairly sure I'm going to have a snake nightmare tonight.

I then walked over to visit my parents.  Mom and Daniel were swinging outside of Kevin's house.  Well, Mom was asleep...

You know, I really should add that Rana works retail which means she is working on most weekends.  That is why she doesn't make the photos very often.

Other than a trip to Whole Foods with Scott tonight, that was my Sunday.  I sat outside for about 4 hours today and enjoyed the lower temps and low humidity here in North Carolina today.

Oh, I felt bad that Scott didn't make any of the pictures so here he is.  He is sitting beside me playing Candy Crush while I blog and we watch Big Bang Theory.  He is also smiling because I told him to "look less mad".

I hope you had a great weekend.  See you next week!

  1. Whoa! If that's a baby snake I don't even want to think how big his Mama must be. I'm still chuckling over the idea of you and Linda praying away her son's girlfriend. Also chuckling over Balto the bra thief. You have lovely lawns there in NC. Our lawns never look like that. The mowing service didn't come last week because of the holiday and the entire neighborhood looks like a forest floor with tiny flowers and big weeds sprouting up everywhere.
