Two Mondays & Two Fridays

Tuesday, July 3, 2018

That's what happens when the 4th of July is on a Wednesday.  Two Mondays and Two Fridays in one week.  Monday #1 was a great day.  I had lunch with my friend Linda and she brought me this....

Check out the first candy bar!  It took me a minute to process exactly how large this chocolate bar is... 9 inches!!! Linda read about my chocolate bar fiasco and is trying to help me find a new obsession.

Nothing beats a lazy summer night with nowhere to be.  I'm sitting on in the screened porch under the fan, listening to the sound of crickets and water trickling over the fountain below.  Soon, the lightning bugs will be out flashing their lights.  It always makes me think of summer as a kid.  I miss the weeks of nothing to do.

My Dietitian, Samara Abbott, is really helping me to understand how to eat to keep my blood sugar in check.  I've only been on my new journey for 3 weeks and I am down 4 pounds.  I'm not focusing on losing weight, although the weight chart shows that I need to, I'm just focusing on eating less added sugar and carbohydrates.  Samara said my A1C shows I am borderline pre-diabetic (1 point away) and I need to work hard on changing my eating habits.  Sam has also taught me that sleep and exercise are very important in preventing diabetes and also in controlling it once you develop it.

Yesterday, when I walked over to visit my parents, they were sitting outside with Kevin, Daniel & Laura.  Fuzzy (the cat that randomly shows up at their house every couple of days) showed up.  Then something interesting happened.  Another cat that looked identical to Fuzzy showed up.  I knew there were 2 cats that they call Fuzzy and Fuzzball, the thing I didn't know is that they look identical.  They both have a spot in the exact same spot on their face.  The only difference I can tell is that one has brown on its front leg.

We have absolutely no idea where these sweet cats live.  I asked Daniel which one was Fuzzy and which was Fuzzball.  He said, "I have no idea".

If you don't follow me on Instagram, this is for you.  You may recall that Balto loves to greet me at the door with either my shoe or a piece of my clothes in his mouth.  Sunday, he met me with Scott's underwear.  Later I walked through the den and saw this...

He's either wearing them on his head or using it as a pillow.

I don't know why he sleeps upside down most of the time.

Happy 4th of July!

  1. A week with 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays! Those are the best work weeks, apart from Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks. Yay for the chocolate bars! Hope they keep you well satisfied for a few days. :) What a goofball Balto is.
