Florida Trip - Part 1

Saturday, May 21, 2011

Since there are were only 2 space shuttle launches left, Uncle Ken and Scott decided that we should try to go see one of them.  It isn't easy planning a trip around a shuttle launch as the date changed several times!  Finally, NASA settled on April 29 and off we went. We had the perfect host and hostess for the trip, Scott's mom actually lives near the Cape and her husband works at the space center.

I found out that while most people that I know had no idea that the shuttle was going to launch that weekend, it was a very different story in Florida.  Over 700,000 people were there to view the launch, not to mention President Obama and family.  School even closed early that day.  Unfortunately, NASA found a problem with the shuttle that morning and the launch was scrubbed.  So, we spent the rest of our trip exploring the area and spending time with Scott's family.

I'm going to post in chronological order so that it will make sense to me :-).  Funnily, that means that today's post will be all about Kathy & Andy's furry family.  And no, I don't think funnily is a word.

This is Rowdy.  It seemed like every time I took a picture of Rowdy, he would close his eyes!
Rowdy is a great cat and did a great job welcoming us into his home.  Here's a better picture of our boy:
Kathy and Andy have a chocolate Lab named Eclair.  It was hard for me to get a picture of Eclair by herself because every time I got in front her with my camera, she popped up and came running to me.  So, here is a picture of Eclair and her best friend Bandit.  Bandit is a Siberian Husky and also...the neighbor's dog.  Bandit came over for a play date while we were there.
The good friends love to play and play.  Here are a couple of pictures of them playing tug of war.  Turns out, they'll play tug of war with anything...
Here's our referee, Andy.
Good friends
Eclair has actually made the trip up to our house to visit.  We look forward to seeing her again.

Next post PEOPLE PICTURES!  And a picture of the launch pad.  Don't get too excited.  Even though the shuttle was on the launch pad....I could only see the back side of it.  :-(

  1. Great animal pics. I love Rowdy! I can't decide if he looks wise or disdainful, but I still love him.
