Mom turned 81 last week. We celebrated by going to her favorite restaurant, Firebird's.

For reasons I don't know, my company has decided to give us President's Day off now. This is very exciting to me. I LOVE having a holiday where nothing is expected of me. I'm happy to honor George Washington and those who were brave enough (crazy enough?) to follow in his footsteps. Happy Birthday Presidents. I'll eat a piece of cake for you all.
Yesterday, I took my nephew to his very first hockey game. In true Daniel fashion, he said it was the "Best Day Ever!" Daniel says that every single day; he has been doing that for years. I actually heard him say to himself yesterday that even though he didn't get cotton candy, it was still the best day ever. We should all be more like Daniel.

I was raised on Soap Operas. I have to be clear, this was not my mother's choice. To this day, she still frowns upon my soaps and all of the sinning that goes on. Growing up, I lived next door to my Grandmother. Grandma watched all of the CBS soaps and since I spent a lot of time with her, I did too. So many of those characters feel like family to me.
The Young & the Restless' Victor and Nikki Newman in 1984. They are currently married...again.

Oprah likes to talk about her favorite things so, maybe I should too. Oprah and I have a lot in common like.... We both wear glasses. We both like dogs. We both like bread.
I've decided to start a regular post called, "Julie's Favorite Things". Actually, I just decided it right now. I realize that much like Oprah, the public wants to know what are Julie's favorite things. I hope that the retailers are ready for the buying frenzy that this post is going to cause. Maybe I'll just post 3 of my favorite things at a time. You know, so that the universe will stay in balance.
#1. Organic Valley Chocolate Milk.

Update:
Dad has a sprained ankle. Here is our Doctor office selfie. Dad loves to make funny faces into the camera.
And, since it was raining so hard the next day, I met Mom and Dad at Dad's hearing appointment to make sure he didn't fall.

It has been a busy week. At the moment, I'm getting ready to walk out the door to take my dad to the doctor. He fell and hurt his foot. I will let you know how that goes.
My nephew, Daniel, had a health scare last week as well. Turns out it was a bladder infection. He is on the mend now and hopefully, that will be the end of it. Also, he got glasses on Friday. He will have to wear them all of the time. He was so excited to be able to see....funny how you don't realize you aren't seeing properly until you get glasses (when you need them!). He kept taking them off and looking around and then putting them back on. Kevin said Daniel said, "Daddy, look at the stars!"
