Let's be honest, if I didn't teach a Sunday School class I would have slept in today. Thankfully my class of four year olds had enough energy to spare.
I feel a little drained. I need to catch you up. The week before last, I pet-sat for my neighbors who went on a 5 day trip to Sedona, Arizona. You might remember meeting Ty...
and Kacey:
That was a very busy week however, it feels like so long ago. This past week....well, I started it out visiting my Aunt Zell in the hospital on Sunday. She is home now but, is still having tests. On Monday, Scott called me at work to say that his Grandmother was in the hospital and they were not expecting her to make it through the night. This was a complete surprise. You might remember her from a recent post about her love for playing (and winning) cards.
Scott and I arrived at the hospital on Monday to find a white rose taped to her door. I thought that we were too late. We walked in and she was asleep but still breathing. I was sure we wouldn't speak to her again. Thirty minutes later, she looked at me and said, "I have to poop". Long story short, she woke up and was doing pretty well for someone with a white rose on her door.
Sidebar: I asked a technician what the white rose was for. She told me that they put those on the door of patients that are getting ready to pass. (I guess they were a little premature with Grandmother).
The next day, I walked into her room to find her sitting up in bed putting on lipstick. She seemed like her normal self for the most part. They had given her morphine so she did say some interesting things. At one point, she saw Moses in the room. There were also some plastic bags on a table that she found particularly hilarious because they "looked like faces". (That morphine must be good stuff).
Grandmother is home now and hospice is taking over. We heard she had a great weekend so far. She is having a lot of visitors and talking nonstop. We are getting ready to go visit her now.
And, on a much less serious note, the bag under my right eye has been twitching on and off for 7 days. I am going to go crazy if it doesn't stop. Maybe I need a massage...or some Xanax....or both. I sure could use a nap....

So far only my stomach realizes the clocks have been pushed forward. Luckily my sleep was unaffected.
ReplyDeleteScott's grandmother sounds like a real character. Then again, from what I've heard morphine is pretty powerful stuff. I'm glad to hear she's home and hope she continues to do well.
I've had that eye-twitch before. Eventually it goes away by itself although I do think some extra sleep would help.
