Blossom Time

Friday, August 30, 2019

Wednesday, Blossom had her initial visit to Vet-REC: Veterinary Rehabilitation & Exercise Clinic of the Carolinas.  Dr. Rachel Cain gave her a thorough exam and came up with a plan to tackle Blossom's condition.  Dr. Cain is everything I had hoped she would be...compassionate, patient, kind, knowledgeable etc.  Tuesday night, I prayed that our visit would give me hope and that prayer was answered.  Next Thursday, September 5th, Blossom will begin hydrotherapy (underwater treadmill) and either laser therapy or electro-acupuncture. Scott hasn't decided which one of the latter 2 that he wants to start with.  In the meantime, we are spoiling our girl and enjoying every moment with her.  These therapies are not a cure but, they will help her quality of life.

Meanwhile, the boy is on his diet.  Balto is eating a half of a can of green beans every night in place of a half can of regular canned food (per the Vet).  He actually loves the green beans.  (Blossom tried them; she did not.). He also gets dry food as well.

Here's my goofy boy sleeping with a shoe...

This is why Scott and I are always having to hunt for our shoes.  We often find the match in a totally different room.  We ask him where our shoes are but, he doesn't tell us.  I have even found shoes outside in the yard.  This boy loves shoes.  He doesn't eat them...he just likes to have them close by.

It's Hurricane season which means that Scott and I have a beach trip planned.  We are planning to take my parents to Hilton Head, SC in another week.  It seems like every year now, we are watching the forecast to see whether a hurricane will change our plans.  Scott's mom lives in Melbourne, Florida and is planning to ride out the storm in a shelter if the need arises.

Have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend.

  1. From watching vet shows on NatGeoWild, I'd opt for laser therapy first. There's nothing painful about light waves. I'd save the acupuncture for when Blossom is more accustomed to having therapy.

There's nothing strange about Balto's shoe fetish. He just likes to have his owner's scent near him. Not so much fun for you and Scott, though, having to search for your shoes. I'm thanking my lucky stars that Truffles hasn't shown any interest in my shoes, other than going bonkers when I say the word "shoes". She knows that means I'll change into walking shoes and take her out. Dogs are such a hoot.

Good luck planning your beach trip. Trying to avoid a hurricane seems a little like playing Russian roulette.

A good Labor Day weekend to you, too. Gosh, is it the end of summer already?
