Meet My Parents....

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Say hello to Ward & June Johnny & Doris - both the product of large cotton farming families.  Mom was the 14th child in her family and Dad was the 7th out of 9 children.  Mom enjoyed getting up at 4:00 am to milk the cow. (Didn't you mom?) Oh, and that's Grandma Helms in the picture.
This is before Dad found Jack Lalanne

Here they are in front of Mom's favorite breakfast place -The Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg, TN.  They went to Gatlinburg on their honeymoon Dec. 24, 1958.

Over the years I have taken many pictures of Dad napping on the couch.  Here's a recent one...  You can almost hear him snoring.

Goodnight.

  1. Julie,

These are great pictures. Your Mom and Dad haven't changed much over the years. The only exception, is as you mentioned ... your Dad found Jack Lalanne and, of course, his hair turned white. I have known your Dad for years; he and Gene (Mary Clyde's husband) were buddies when they were really young. I did not know your Mom until after they were married.

I knew your Mom's brother, Sanford, and your Dad's brother, Coy. I knew your Dad's Mother; met her when she came to Pleasant Valley Church for a while. I always enjoyed talking with her.

You're right, I hear him snoring! He needs to be muffled (is that a word?)

I really love your Mom and Dad ... also their children!

I am glad you decided to have this blog ... you can post more information, pictures, etc. and it is more personal. I enjoy Melanie Howard's blog also.

Until your next posting, my love to Scott and you.
