Monday Musings

Monday, January 15, 2018

I don't know if Monday Musings works as a title because frankly, I don't know what the word musings actually means.  I think I kind of know what it means but, it is quite possible that I do not.

Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - a very important day on our calendar in my opinion.  I've been thinking a lot recently about how much courage it takes for people to speak out against injustice.  I feel very convicted about my silence.  It's so easy to feel like you are such a "small" person and there isn't anything you can do to make a difference.

Dad had a check-up at the cardiologist today.

I can't believe that it has been 3 months since he last visited his cardiologist.  That means, we have gone more than 3 months without a hospitalization!  After his appointment was over, Dad decided he really wanted some coffee and some Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

After the Doctor and Doughnuts (and going home to watch my soap operas) I went to the airport to pick up my friend Karla and her son Ethan.

Karla lives in Phoenix now and is in town for a visit.  It was so nice to get to see her and catch up.  I look forward to seeing more of Karla while she is in town.

On the way to the airport, I noticed that my tooth was chipped.  I have no idea how it happened but, I now have a 9:00 a.m. appointment with my Dentist tomorrow.  I'm so not looking forward to this appointment.  I have this fear that someday my teeth are just going to crumble and break apart.  Actually, it is a recurring dream that I have every once and a while.

  1. Well, musings are short meditations, so the title does work in the sense that you are giving the reader snippets to meditate on, whether serious or funny. That said, I'm not sure Krispy Kremes are a heart healthy food, so I hope your Dad didn't overindulge. I also hope the news from your dentist won't break the bank. And the final snippet, featuring Sean Bean, made me LOL!
