Dad has a sprained ankle. Here is our Doctor office selfie. Dad loves to make funny faces into the camera.
And, since it was raining so hard the next day, I met Mom and Dad at Dad's hearing appointment to make sure he didn't fall.
Mom and I are waiting patiently.
Balto is getting better. He was really feeling miserable for a few days. Scott had called the vet, and they had given us an appointment for a lip biopsy. Turns out, he was suffering in vain all weekend because he can't have the biopsy until an infection he has is gone. He is now on antibiotics and feeling MUCH better. For the third time in 2 months, his lips are very swollen and red. He has scratched some of his hair off on his chin and has a few scabs. After doing some online research, we think it is something called Lip Fold Dermatitis. He has almost every symptom. I'm not sure why the vet has not mentioned that. We are going to bring that up before his biopsy that is scheduled for the 22nd.
He is sitting at my feet. This is a picture of the goofball right now...
Saturday....I shot sporting clays with Scott. Sporting Clays are known as "golf with guns". It is played on a course much like a golf course. There are usually 2 or 3 courses to choose from and you ride around on your golf cart from station to station and shoot clays. Each station is different. Sometimes you shoot 2 in a row. Sometimes there are 2 at the same time coming from different directions. It is a blast! Literally!!!
I also got my gray roots covered up:
And, I had 3 doctor appointments - all yearly checkups. Except for the eye doctor, I'm (hopefully) good for another year.
For about 15 years, I have had what is referred to as "White Coat Syndrome". That basically means that when I go to the doctor, I am so anxious that my blood pressure is very high. Many times they have to take several readings just to make sure I am ok. Well, I'm not sure what happened but, I have NOT been anxious at these recent visits. Today, at the GYN, my blood pressure was 114 over 70 on the first try!
When I was in anxiety therapy last fall, I discussed my doctor office anxiety and white coat syndrome. My therapist said that I should try as hard as I could to raise my blood pressure. I tried and tried. You know what? It worked!!! I couldn't do it. So, I actually tried that today. I think the nurse thought I was just plain goofy when I told her. But, look at my results.
Tomorrow is Friday!

I've never heard of golf with guns. You sure have some unique sports down there in NC!
ReplyDeleteI'd say your Dad isn't the only one who likes to make funny faces for the camera. :D
If you figure out how you got rid of your white coat syndrome, let me know. My doctor always has to take my BP several times because I'm in such a state by the time I get to her office.
OH Lorraine. I got to where I would dread my appointment b/c I was scared of how high my bp would be from anxiety. When the nurse goes to take your pressure 1. Think of me; that will make you laugh. 2. Make a squinty face and tell yourself "Let's see how high this can go". Then, you will be so distracted it won't be quite so high. It is such a stupid thing but somehow, focusing on trying to make it higher seems to take the fear away. It is worth a shot!!!!
