What a week it has been! It rained rather heavily Monday through Thursday and I am overjoyed to finally see the sun again today. I like rainy days every once in a while but, not FOUR IN A ROW. Even Blossom was starting to get crabby.
My neighbors went out of town this week so I got to spend some fun time with Ty. I miss having a cat in my life. For this trip they boarded their Australian Shepherd, Kacey, so it was just Ty and me. For the life of me, I could not figure out how to use their television. I did find an advertisement on their TV home page for "Cats 24/7" which also said "Free", so I clicked on it. I was not expecting what happened next.
Ty was mesmerized! He couldn't take his eyes off of the television. One clip showed a kitten stalking another cat. When the kitten finally pounced, Ty jumped!
Ty had no interest in the commercials though. Every time a set of commercials came on, he would put his head down and close his eyes.
The next night when I went over, Ty was still very interested in his "stories".
Wednesday, I went over to see my Mom & Dad. I asked Mom how Daniel had been that day. (Daniel gets off the bus and comes to her house until his Dad gets home from work.) She said, "He made a lamp". I said, "I'm sure he did". I didn't really know what exactly she meant but it sure sounded like him. On Thursday, I saw the lamp. He made it out of cardboard, duct tape and wires. Cardboard is his medium of choice.
Daniel told me his lamp had a "balance problem". Mom told me that she did too.
I had ordered Mom & Dad 2 floor lamps the week before and when UPS delivered them, Daniel put both lamps together for them. I guess he figured he could make his own. When I texted pictures to Kevin and Rana, Kevin said he felt both "proud and concerned". I told him just to make sure he teaches Daniel fire safety.
Yesterday, I took Dad to see his cardiologist and for the first time, he walked in on his own 2 feet! I didn't have to get him a wheelchair. I brought his cane but he gave it to me to hold. (?) He said he didn't need it. He got a pretty good report from Dr. Cedarholm and for that I am grateful.
In Julie news, I started seeing a new therapist this week. I loved the therapist that I saw last year but, her office was a little further from my office than I wanted to drive. Plus, after only 6 sessions last year, she seemed to think I was "good". I've dealt with anxiety for my entire life and I sure can't improve too much in 6 sessions. I think I'm in it for the long-haul and my new girl, Natalie, seems like just the one to help me. I'm feeling very overwhelmed lately and I need to relax. Yesterday, I put my clothes in the dryer to fluff them up before I headed to work. I always do this. When I went to put them on, I realized I had not put them in the dryer. I put them in the WASHER....with soap....and turned them on to wash. I had to make a quick decision what to wear instead and ended up being late. Then....
Last night, I went to put a bowl of soup in the microwave and instead of opening the microwave door, I opened the cabinet door to the trash can and almost set my soup in the trash can. See....I'm overwhelmed. I need to RELAX.
Mom is seeing a therapist for her shin where she fell. He has been doing some type of ultrasound and electric therapy on it. He is also going to help her with her balance. She has been able to walk a little better this week as she actually went to the grocery store yesterday. I had been picking up her groceries. I don't mind doing that for my parents but clearly, I was a little stressed.
Blossom and Balto were so happy to see the sun this morning. As I was leaving for work, I found them in my office. They don't normally hang out here.
It's almost time for the weekend!!!!

If you don't like the rain, you can come up to Vermont. I woke up to about a foot of snow this morning. Later I went to the mailbox after the guy who plows the driveways finished, and promptly fell on a slippery patch of snow. There's a distinct advantage to having a little extra padding on hips and thighs--I didn't get hurt.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your first photo I thought you had finally acquired another cat. You need a cat, Julie. You really do. Hmm, do you think Daniel is a budding electrician? How did he get his cardboard lamp to light up? I don't know about overwhelmed, but you certainly seem to be distracted. At least when I do stuff like you've described, I can blame my age.
Have a great weekend. I'm keeping a low profile as I haven't got my snow tires on yet.
