November Is Here

Sunday, November 10, 2019

The end of Daylight Savings Time really seems to have a negative effect on me.  I come home from work and struggle to get anything done around the house although, I do love waking up when it isn't "pitch black" outside.  The House passed a bill in North Carolina to get rid of DST.  As of this moment, it has stalled in the Senate.  Since I live on the State line and go to church in South Carolina....I'm not sure how I will maneuver being on 2 different clocks.

Every night, I visit my parents and make sure they are eating and taking their pills.  Some nights I cook for them.  It is a lot of work but, I wouldn't do anything differently.  Many nights, this is the meal they choose to make for themselves.

Here we have a medley of weenies (as they call them), instant potatoes and toast.  Oh, and pills.  I can honestly say that this is not a meal that I ever had growing up.  Mom would work all day and then come home and cook a big (healthier) meal for us every night.  I don't know how she did it.  The above meal is a recent addition to their menu and, it seems to make an appearance most nights that Kevin or I don't cook supper for them.  Sigh.

I really enjoy sitting at the dinner table with them.  Dad loves to tell stories from days past.  Thursday night, he told me stories about boys that mom had dated and girls that he had dated.  After much debate, neither could decide if he was in the Air Force when he met mom at the county fair or not.  Mom was a senior in high school when they started dating.....in 1956.  Memory Lane.

Kevin texted these pictures of Daniel making his first jack-o'-lantern for Halloween.  I think he did a GREAT job!

I saw on Facebook that Laura went on a field trip to Hunter Farm.  Her school posted these photos.

It looks like she was having a great time!  I showed her these pictures and asked about her trip.  As usual, she didn't give me any information.

Last Saturday, Mom, Daniel & I went to see Aunt Ruby.  (Mom's 93 year old sister who lives in an assisted living center).

Aunt Ruby was doing well and we had a nice visit.

Blossom had hydrotherapy on Thursday.  She seems to be holding her own.

Since Dad loves his Caddyshack Gopher, dancing Santa & Big Mouth Billy Bass singing fish so much....I decided to get him a custom made bobblehead for Christmas.  This is the first proof that I received.

I requested some suggested changes and look forward to seeing the next proof.  I think he will be so surprised!  I hope he loves it.

I walked over to see mom this afternoon and here is what I found:

She was watching the kids.  It wasn't long until this happened to me:

I am so not ready to face another work week.

  1. I love mashed potatoes as much as the next person, but my first thought on looking at that photo was this meal needs some greens! I predict that most people living near NC's state lines will be late (or way early) for a lot of events. At least your time will be right for half the year. Great first pumpkin, especially if Daniel drew as well as carved it. I didn't know you could get a custom bobblehead. Can't wait to see the finished product. The little hearts on your face and hair could have been worse--they could have been fat red lips. :D
