Fall-o-ween

Can you believe it is already Halloween?  Daniel told me that it seems like the year has gone by so fast.  He's right!

This boy always makes me smile.  You can't help but smile when you look down at your lap and see a face like that.

Balto is the first dog I have ever had that tries to talk.  He usually talks to me when I am getting ready to feed him in the morning and when I come home from work.  I wish I knew what he was trying to say.  My best friend growing up, Deanna, had a Labrador that did the same thing.  He could actually say the words "I want a hot dog".

Wendy, my office neighbor, celebrated her 50th birthday on Tuesday.  Jim and I took her to eat at Captain's Steve's for lunch on Friday.

Wendy will be leaving us in a few more days.  She is taking a new job for a different medical research company.  We will miss her joining us for lunch and soap operas!

I bought a new garden flag to show my North Carolina pride.  Blossom approves.

Daniel brings the weirdest most interesting things with him whenever he comes to visit Nana & Papa.  I looked through his container and found and old blood pressure machine, a PSI gage, some old lightbulbs, a flashlight, a game, an old m&m container, some candy.....  He also brought a fan.

Since Rana was working on Saturday night, I invited Kevin and the kids over for Hamburger Helper and a movie.  I know what you are thinking...Hamburger Helper????  Trust me, the kids love it.  Kevin brought It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown for us to watch.

Balto sat down beside Laura.  He's very interested in her popcorn.

Normally, Laura doesn't pay any attention to the dogs.  That's why I have to post this picture...

Poor Linus.  The Great Pumpkin didn't come this year either.

Today, Matthew's Helping Hands had their annual Halloween party.  Rana was working so I went with Kevin & the kids.

Of course, Daniel wanted a Hamster painted on his hand.

There was a fun scavenger hunt.  The kids were given a paper that had pictures on it and they had to find the people dressed up as those characters.  The characters signed their card and when they finished the card, they got a prize.  Here, Daniel is getting the "cowboy" to check his name off of the list.

There were a couple of children in wheelchairs that were dressed up for Halloween.  I wanted to take a picture but, I was afraid it might not be the appropriate thing to do.  They looked adorable and I could tell that their parents worked hard on their costumes.

Blossom had her evaluation with the therapist veterinarian on Thursday.  She got a good report.  Dr. Cain told Scott that her muscle tone has actually improved in her "bad" leg and that she is more aware of that leg than she was at her initial evaluation with the neurologist.  This is the best news that we could hope for.  We are praying that she will have many more good days but, in the meantime, we don't take any of her good days for granted.

Tomorrow, I am taking Mom to see the eye doctor in the morning.  Even though she doesn't have cataract surgery for a few more weeks, this is her pre-op appointment.  I hope you have a great week!

  1. OMG, that first photo of Balto is a hoot! The pic of Daniel and his container makes me think of a mad scientist at work. That boy is always tinkering, isn't he? I think the kids in wheelchairs might have appreciated having their Halloween costumes photographed. Were their parents there? You could have asked them first. Nothing wrong with Hamburger Helper, especially when kids have fussy appetites. I always liked that stuff when I was growing up.
