I'm calling this post "Overdue" for several reasons. One is because a family vacation was long overdue for us but also, because this was supposed to happen the week that Hurricane Florence showed up over a month ago. Please forgive me for the picture overload....I want to document this for the future. If you look at all of the pictures...I will be surprised.
After almost 4 hours of driving across North Carolina, we made it to Holden Beach.
Here is the house that we stayed in. 5 bedroom/bathrooms and a swimming pool. It is on the very end of the island so we had views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Intercostal Waterway.
Views from the home.
This was the little porch outside of Daniel's room. I was standing on my balcony and heard them outside having fun so I looked around the corner.
Laura enjoyed throwing things off of the balcony into the pool. The first thing to go over, was my comb.
Next to go was one of Rana's hair clips.
Lastly, Daniel's stuffed duck "Quackers" somehow made it into the pool.
Scott, Dad and Daniel enjoyed playing corn hole.
One of the requirements we had in a rental home was an elevator for Mom and Dad. This home had a really nice one. Daniel and Laura loved taking rides on the elevator so much that my brother would flip the breaker so that it wouldn't run most of the time. We let Daniel be the official Elevator Operator for Nana and PawPaw.
PawPaw and Daniel played Checkers. Daniel played well but, Dad ended up letting him win. Daniel doesn't know that though.
Scott and Daniel made sandcastles every day.
Random family time photos.
I caught them!
Monday, we went to Calabash, NC and ate at a Captain Nance's Seafood (Fish Camp) and later went to Callahan's and St. Nick Nack's to shop. It's a family tradition for many years.
Daniel baked cookies on his iPad. Or his Ipade as he thought it was spelled.
Last but most...

Wow! That's a lot of photos. Gorgeous house but way too many stairs. Good thing you had an elevator. It's hard to believe that this is an October trip. We've had snow already, and when it's not raining or snowing it's cloudy most of the day--and there you are surrounded by sunshine and temps warm enough to use the beach. I'm jealous. Seriously, though, I'm glad the whole family had a chance to spend quality time together. Looks like you had a blast.
