Sunday Night

Sunday, October 21, 2018

Sunday night always brings up conflicting emotions.  I'm sad that the weekend is over and I'm ready to start a new week.  Wait, I'm sad that the weekend is over and I don't want to start a new week just yet.  If I could do anything tomorrow, I would sleep late and spend the day on my couch watching a Golden Girls marathon with Balto.  (Blossom would be with Scott wherever he is.)

Daniel needs a haircut.  Saturday, I styled his hair like this.  I'm not sure if anyone got the hint...

So far, the only "out of the ordinary" day I have this week is taking Mom to see a cardiologist on Tuesday.  I'm both relieved she is finally getting to see a cardiologist and nervous about what he will say.  Mom is in atrial fibrillation and her ankles are very swollen.  She is also very tired and tends to fall asleep when she sits still for more than 5 minutes.  I love my mom.  Today we went to see her sister, Ruby, who is in an assisted living center.  It was a great visit.  Mom may have fallen asleep a few times during our visit.  Oh well, Aunt Ruby talked enough for all of us.  She's 93 and hasn't lost a step.

For quite some time, I've been practicing mindfulness meditation.  My Calm app says that I've used it to meditate 144 times.  Most of the time, I find it very helpful and I have also learned a lot from it.  Other times, I end up doing what I did tonight...waking up at the end of the session with my face planted on the couch and drool coming out of my mouth.  Oh well, I guess I needed a nap.

Blossom is feeling much better.  Balto is still smiling.

I rarely eat Chinese, but for the 2nd time this year I have gotten this fortune...

Hmmm....maybe that is why I dreamed this week that my friend Sandra got new boobs and I didn't know.  I also dreamed that she changed jobs and started working at Liberty Mutual.  I blame those stupid new Liberty Mutual commercials that get stuck in your head.  I'd like to punch whoever came up with their new jingle.  I refuse to ever use Liberty Mutual now.  Yes, I'm that ridiculous.  I also can't use Charmin toilet paper (What bear uses toilet paper? And why would anyone want to see bears talk about leaving toilet paper behind after they wipe?), call J.G. Wentworth (that song makes me hate everyone), eat Hormel Pepperoni, Twizzlers, Daisy Sour Cream or use Febreeze (not that I would; I hate that smell) nor would I ever, ever buy whatever insurance that "Mayhem" guy sells.  I could go on and on.  Hmmm....maybe I should make a list of commercials I actually like next time.

I have to clarify that it is the most recent Febreeze commercials that I hate.  You know the "I love you basement bathroom..."  I like the ones where they talk about being nose blind.

I think it is time for me to sign off tonight.  I've clearly lost my mind to be discussing this.

  1. OMG, Julie, I LOL'd all through this post, from Daniel's hairstyle to the Febreeze commercials. You wouldn't believe how much time I've wasted trying to remember the previous Liberty Mutual jingle--if there even was one. And Hormel Pepperoni? Somebody please put that one-man-band guy out of his misery. Now, for a commercial series I do like, there's Farmer's Insurance: "We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two." Although even there, some of the commercials are less amusing than others.
