Farmer Julie

Wednesday, March 20, 2019

I've decided to plant a vegetable garden.  Having never grown my own food I have no idea if I will be successful.  My best case scenario would be to have enough vegetables to share.

Scott loves to build things so I asked him if he would build a couple of raised garden beds.  The lumber arrived on Monday and quickly passed through Blossom's inspection.

Balto came outside to see what was going on.  For reasons I don't know, he brought my shoe with him.  Much to my appreciation, he took it back inside when he left.

I asked for raised beds because our yard is full of Quartz.  Note the white rocks in the picture below.  You can't throw a rock in our yard without hitting a rock.  Trying to grow fruits and vegetables in Quartz would not be easy for anyone; especially not for a beginner like me.

Wherever Scott is, Blossom is nearby.

Hey Blossom.

Carolina blue skies...

Stay tuned to for the next episode of "Farmer Julie".

Daniel wore an interesting sweatshirt for St. Patrick's Day:

Laura's shirt was interesting as well.  It said, "Let the good times roll" with dancing rolls of toilet paper.  I loved it! Here she is with the craft we made in church on Sunday.  Hint:  It's Moses.

Mom and I playing Wheel of Fortune with Dad tonight (Tuesday)...

Balto being Balto.

Have a great day!

  1. Wow, from the size of the plot Scott is laying out, you're starting your farming project on a big scale. Since I have the opposite of a green thumb, my maiden farming voyage would start in a flower pot. If I can't remember to water, or if I overwater, it won't be a huge waste. But that's just me. You can do this, Julie! I'm rooting for you.

    1. I agree with you totally. I think I should just start out growing one bed of tomatoes. Scott doesn't like tomatoes very much so he wants me to grow other things too. I have a feeling that he will enjoy the science part of growing so much that he will "help" out. (I'm hoping for it). This is the man who thought it would be fun to turn my pink hydrangea blue by putting lime in the soil. He didn't tell me....I found out when my plant turned blue. I wasn't exactly thrilled that my hydrangea had become an experiment. It never did turn pink again. LOL. It ended up being purple. We'll see. Too bad you are too far away to share!
