I Put On Pants Today

Friday, March 27, 2020

I put on pants today.  I've actually been putting on pants every day, but only sweat pants.  I put on jeans today and I felt dressed up.  I had 2 different appointment times at 2 different grocery stores to pick up groceries for my parents and myself.  I couldn't get appointments at the same time, or at the same store, so I had to go with the times and locations that were open when I ordered them a week ago.

I put on pants on Wednesday as well.  Mom had a very thorough exam with her doctor.  This is one of the perks of having to pay so much for a concierge physician.  You may recall that our very good family friend is their doctor and he changed to a concierge practice last year. After taking 4 vials of blood, they did vision, hearing, body mass, muscle strength, circulation, ekg, and lung capacity tests.  We go back in 2 weeks for the results.

Looks like South Carolina is in good hands.  I just happened to see our local news showing a clip from a recent press conference by Governor Henry McMaster.

I spy my cousin, General Jeff Jones in the background.  It made my heart smile to see Jeff on TV!   We are so proud of him and are keeping him and his family in our prayers during this difficult time.  Sleep well SC knowing that Jeff is on the job!

My hair is going gray.  I like to say that this Pandemic is really aging me.  This is week 6 from my last dye.  I'm looking forward to seeing what is under all of that brown facade.  I'm also looking forward to having healthy hair again.  Once I see what it looks like, I'll decide if I'm ready to be a silver fox.  Hmmm....I'm not much of a fox so maybe more like a silver sheep.

I'm struggling to wash my face before bed these days.  Heck, I'm struggling to brush my teeth before bed these days.

  1. Am I the only one who finds the person signing in all these official press conferences distracting? I try to watch the person who's speaking, but my eyes keep going to the fast-moving hands--and I can't even read American Sign Language. I should probably learn it in case I eventually go deaf.

My local grocery stores have set aside 6-7 a.m. three days a week for seniors to shop. That's lovely, but I usually wake up around 7:30. So now I'll have to set an alarm. The dog will be totally confused.

Amen to your closing quote. I made that discovery the year I retired. :D

    1. That's all I watch during the press conferences - the interpreter. I've picked up a couple of signs. My favorite is "gym". It is someone lifting weights. LOL.

  2. Hey Julie! How cool that your cousin was there with the governor! I watched that news conference too! In other news, I saw a tweet the other day by Jon Acuff (an author who works from home) that by "day 3 flannel feels like failure" so he advised getting dressed every day. But for others, working in yoga pants is a perk of the wfh gig, so I guess it's whatever you're most comfortable with! I'm definitely dressing more "slouchy" these days.
