Under My Umb-r-ella Ella Ella...

Sunday, September 16, 2018

I can't get the song Umbrella by Rihanna out of my head right now.  We are waterlogged here in the Carolinas.  Thankfully, despite having nonstop rain for over the past 24 hours, the area that I live in seems to have been in a pocket that received less rain than everyone else around here.  The creek behind my house didn't even overflow.  The rest of my county was not as lucky; we are under a mandatory curfew from 7pm until 7am due to widespread flooding.  Officials are afraid that you won't be able to see flooded roads in the dark.

My bird feeders have been very busy all weekend.  Some friends even took refuge under the awning outside of my bedroom.

The wind was really whipping last night with gusts up to almost 50 mph.  Scott slept in a guest room and I slept (not well) on the couch.  We were a little concerned about one of the trees that is over our bedroom.  I was very worried about the giant oaks beside both my parents' and my brother's homes.

School is out here tomorrow and many businesses are closed.  I will be slowly making my way into the office.

You can stand...

AGH!  I wish I could change the radio channel in my head!!!!

  1. Based on what I'm seeing of Florence coverage online, you are so lucky to be away from the flood waters. The biggest problem with flooded roads is that you can't see if part of the road has been washed away. You're driving along thinking it's not so bad, only a couple of inches, and suddenly there's no road under your tires at all.

Okay, that squirrel with the umbrella is so freaking funny I can't stand it! Luckily I've never heard the song, so no earworm.
