Thursday night, Linda and I had dinner at Viva Chicken. Linda is one of my very favorite people in the world and I always enjoy catching up with her.
Scott (and Blossom) worked on burying the irrigation lines for the garden.
The annual Mitey Riders Spring Fest was held on Saturday, May 4th. This year, Laura's class was scheduled to ride last (3:30 pm). Due to a severe thunderstorm that blew up around 3:15, they were unable to do so. We went into the barn long enough for her class to get their trophies and then the horses had to quickly be put in their stalls. Apparently, horses are terrified of thunderstorms. This storm really packed a punch. We barely made it to our car before the bottom fell out to include the worst hail I've ever driven in. Thankfully, all of the other classes were able to enjoy a perfect day.
The boy in the background is Ezra, Laura's oldest friend. They have been together since he started kindergarten the year after her. Ezra and Laura are the best of friends however, you'd never know it by looking at them. They don't interact very much.
Dad didn't make it this year as he wasn't feeling very strong. Mom, Daniel, Scott & I were in attendance to support our favorite rider. Rana was working.
I found Laura's handprints on the wall.
Daniel watching the movie Cars for the 5,000th time.
Balto is working hard watching our back yard from the porch. This was a rough week for bunnies around our house. A momma bunny made her nest inside of our fence. Monday, Balto killed the mom. Friday, Blossom and Balto found the babies. Ugh.
Friday, I went for a follow up of laser therapy for the spider veins around my nose. I am still so excited at how it just made the veins vanish instantly. My esthetician found a few more veins that she wanted to zap and OH MY, I had forgotten how much that hurts! Thankfully, it is quick.
I took the picture below because I thought it might be a "Before" picture as I had decided to let my hair go gray. After talking with Linda, I think I've decided to put it off a little longer.
Laura is watching Wheels on the Bus on my iPad after our lesson at church today. I'm sure I sing that song in my sleep.
After being M.I.A. for several days, the barn cat showed up at Mom's house today.
Here it is trying to push Mom out of her chair.
It started meowing at me.
As always, Mom fell asleep.
Balto spent the afternoon sleeping as well.
Scott loves to bake. Tonight he made himself a chocolate meringue pie.
Yum!

While it's sad that Laura's group didn't get to ride, in the long run it's much better to be safe when a thunderstorm is brewing. I'm glad that they all got trophies anyway.
