Our final day arrived way too fast! Mike Tomkowicz, one of my favorite Vermonters, didn't get to make it to our Friday lunch at The Shanty, due to work obligations. He asked Liz if we could stop by the office on our way to the airport. Not only did I get to see Mike, I got to see Bob Bouchard too.
L to R: Kristi, Liz, Bob, Me, Mike, Deb & Christina. Missing from this photo is Deb's Golden Retriever, Sadie. Sadie is the sweetest dog and was hanging out in the background.
I posted 2 photos so that everyone had their eyes open in at least one of the photos! It was so great to see Mike, Bob, and the ladies again. I miss these people so much.
Next up was our race to the airport. Time got away from us a little to quickly and we had to rush through the airport to make sure we made it through TSA. The TSA agent checking my license kept looking at my picture and then looking at me and then looking at my picture. I was starting to get nervous. He said, "I'm not going to tell you what I'm thinking". Then he told me that I look much younger than my license says that I am. Whew, that was a relief.
We ate lunch at The Skinny Pancake and made it to our gate on time. Our Captain informed us that we might have a bit of a "bumpy ride". Thankfully, it wasn't too bumpy.
My boss, Jim, loves to track planes on the radar so he was texting me our location during the entire trip home. I was so thankful as, otherwise, I would have had no idea where we were.
Leaving Burlington...
Into the clouds...
Jim would send me updates like, "Say hello to Philadelphia on your left. You are traveling at 27,000 ft and going 481 mph." At one point I told him there was a lot of water outside my window. He told me it was the Chesapeake Bay. I was so glad to have him updating me.
Here we are flying over Lake Norman (or possibly Lake Wylie) as we turn to land in Charlotte.
If you look at the middle of the picture...you can see the skyline of the Queen City in the distance.
What a great trip. I love Vermont! I love Canada! And most shocking of all....I loved flying! By the time we walked through the airport and got on a bus back to our car in Long Term Parking 1....Christy and I were sweating. It was clear we were back home in the south.
I can't wait to go back soon and see all of my friends and visit my new home away from home!

Did you notice that the painting behind you in the office photo is of Shelburne Farms? I'm glad you and Christy had such a great trip. (Christy is a total sweetheart, by the way. Tell her I said Hi!) Who would have guessed that you would love flying! I hope you come back and spend more time. An extended weekend is really not long enough. We've got full color now in the Champlain Valley. Unfortunately this time of year you just can't forecast or guarantee color intensity.
