Bad Boys, Bad Boys

Tuesday, January 15, 2019

As I was driving to work yesterday, I noticed a couple of Sheriff cars about a mile down the road from my house.  The cars were at different houses and the Deputies were speaking with some homeowners.  I assumed someone must have broken into their cars.  Fast forward a few hours and Mom called me at work to tell me that someone had been in her car, Kevin's car & Rana's car.  Dad's car was locked so it was left alone.  Unfortunately, they had broken into 2 locked storage rooms in my parents' garage.

It seems as though someone hit a large section of our road including the neighborhood across the street from our houses.  My brother found some of his neighbors' belongings - to include their checkbook - in his car.

I found Daniel and Nana inside, pretty much as they always are.  Daniel wanted me to take a picture of him and his light bulb (again) however, he couldn't stop watching TV long enough for me to take it.

Dad was gone to a council meeting so I snuck the cat inside.  Kitty watched TV with Mom and me.

The truth is that Dad said he was going to the Lancaster council meeting last night but, I tracked his car (via the My Chevy app) to Great Falls, SC.  Great Falls is about a 45 minute (rural) drive and I'm not real excited about Dad driving at night. Sidebar:  He is having cataract surgery on both of his eyes; the first surgery is Monday.  He has a very close friend named Steve that lives in Great Falls and he clearly popped in for a quick visit.  When he returned home, Mom asked him how the meeting was.  He said, "Good".  She never told him that we knew that he went to Great Falls.  There was a meeting last night that he may or may not have dropped by so I can't say that he wasn't telling the truth.  He may have just omitted some facts....

Regarding the cat, I just called Mom and told her that when the neighbor comes to pick up his checkbook and other (stolen) items today, to be sure and ask what the name of this cat is AND whether it is a boy or a girl.  After almost 2 years of it hanging around every day, it sure would be nice to know. She said the cat was on her porch eating breakfast while we were talking.  Of course it was!

In my previous post, Lorraine mentioned that she would like to have seen pictures of the deer that had mesmerized Balto.  I really struggled to get pictures of them with my phone due to the distance.  This was the best one I took.  It was taken through a window and a screened porch.  I've tried to zoom in on these to help out.

It had quite a stunning rack.

  1. That's scary about thieves breaking into cars on your street. Did they take anything from your parents' storage area or Kevin's, Rana's, or your Mom's cars? Do the cops have an idea who did it? Sometimes a crime spree like this is part of a larger spree around different neighborhoods. I hope you and Scott are locking your cars when you're home. Good thing you have dogs to sound the alarm.

Well, I looked and looked and didn't see the deer in your photo at first--the rack looked a lot like tree branches. But then I found him. And no, I didn't sneak a peek at the next photo. It's nice to know a big deer like that survived deer season.

So what is the cat's name?
