I remember sitting by my Dad's hospital bed last year, wondering if he would ever go home again, when he told me that he needed Cataract surgery. I smiled and agreed that he would need to get that done someday. At that time, I didn't think we would ever see that day. Today was that day.
As we sat in the surgery center's pre-op room (which looks exactly like the pre-op room for scary operations), Dad was so relaxed that he was snoring....and they hadn't even given him anything yet! It was clearly eye day at the surgery center because we ran into a family friend having the exact same procedure with the same doctor.
Everything went beautifully and Dad slept the entire drive home.
Dad's eye patch is clear plastic with holes all over it. He asked me when they were going to put a patch over his eye; I told him that was the patch!
Last night, I went outside to view the Super Wolf Blood Moon (I hate that name). Scott and I both laid down on the sidewalk to look at the red moon. I took some pictures with my cell phone but they came out as badly as expected; you can't even tell the moon was red. The air was so crisp (it was our coldest night of the year) and it felt like you could see every single star in the sky. It reminded me of how the night sky used to look where I live before Charlotte swallowed our area.
A sweet family friend, Donna Patterson, posted this picture of her view.
Then she said that she and her husband didn't want to stay up that late so they stuck a piece of bologna on the window.
Today is MLK Day and the kids were out of school. Laura was with her caretaker, Becca (remember the one who got stuck in the mud), and Daniel hung out with Nana and Papaw.
Learning about and testing lightbulbs....
Story to remember to tell Daniel one day: He got in trouble this afternoon. I had asked him to name all of the Planets. When he got to Uranus he said, "YOUR anus? What about MY anus?" I laughed. When his daddy fussed at him he said he didn't know what it meant; he had heard it on one of the TV shows he watches.
I'm watching Wheel of Fortune while I type this post. Is it just me or is Vanna White really, really skinny? And have you ever noticed that everyone is married to their "wonderful wife" or "wonderful husband?" Is it in the contract that you have to use the word "wonderful?" I mean, clearly, not everyone's spouses can possibly be wonderful. For once I'd like to hear someone say they are married to their "loser" husband or their "ok" wife. That being said, do you have to say you are married to your husband or wife? Isn't that implied? Is Pat's hair real?

Hope your Dad is feeling better after Cadillac surgery. As someone who'll need the same operation in a few years, I'm glad to see it looks easy and relatively painless. The sky here cleared up last night so I was able to see the moon. It was very large but I didn't see a speck of red in it. Love your friend Donna's bologna on the window photo.
